Developing Students' Skills Through The Use Of The Starfish Strategy: An Innovative Educational Model
Abstract
The development of students' skills is a cornerstone of modern education, emphasizing the need for innovative strategies that engage learners and enhance their cognitive, social, and practical abilities. This study explores the implementation of the Starfish strategy as an innovative educational model aimed at fostering students' skills across various domains. The Starfish strategy encourages reflection, critical thinking, collaboration, and problem-solving by dividing activities into five interconnected components: Keep, Stop, Start, Less, and More. These components provide a structured framework for students to assess their learning processes, identify areas of improvement, and actively participate in shaping their educational experiences. This research adopts a mixed-methods approach, incorporating quantitative and qualitative tools to assess the strategy's effectiveness in improving key skills such as communication, teamwork, and self-regulation. Findings indicate significant improvements in students' ability to articulate ideas, work collaboratively, and self-evaluate, contributing to their overall academic and personal development. Additionally, teachers reported increased student engagement and motivation within the classroom. The study concludes that the Starfish strategy is a dynamic, adaptable, and effective model for enhancing student skills in diverse educational contexts. Recommendations for educators include integrating this strategy into curriculum planning to promote holistic skill development and active learning.
